African countries could benefit from improve ties with the UK, not only from better access to the British market itself, but also to her neighbouring EU and non-EU countries. Additional advantage may accrue to African countries, because the UK could serve as the initial platform for entry into the global markets and also access to international trade and financing.
Further, African private sector would access to the vast network of British industries and excellent technological developments necessary to achieve their own growth and prosperity.
On the other hand, British businesses will also benefit from improved trade activities with African countries, particularly in light of recent development through NEPAD initiative. This new collective initiative offers African countries the opportunity to have better coordinated approaches towards resolving political, economic and social problems that have characterised the region, but on longer term basis could create an opportunity for a stable a sustainable climate for trade and investment, that would allow these countries to become industrialised rapidly.
